GAS & POWER: High pressure will continue to dominate the weather pattern across the continent for the next ten days. The weekend and most of next week will see sunny, dry and warm conditions with temperatures well above the average. The latest weather forecasts, however, confirm only a temporary easing of the current conditions over the last ten days of July, which are expected to be more unsettled and cooler. The heat over the coming days will limit French nuclear capacity, which is forecast to stand at just over 40 GW – the recent highs of 50 GW were reached at the start of the week.

The US-based Freeport LNG terminal began scheduled maintenance today on its pre-treatment and liquefaction facilities, which is due to be completed only in the second half of August. The impact on liquefaction operations has not been specified, but it cannot be ruled out that all three trains at the plant – which has a capacity of over 20 billion cubic metres per year – may be affected by the work. Under normal operating conditions, the terminal is capable of delivering up to twenty shipments per month.
