GAS & POWER: At a time when the parties seemed to be closer to reaching an agreement, yet another setback between the parties came overnight. An initial American raid on an Iranian military site deemed potentially dangerous was followed in the hours that followed by Tehran's response, with an attack on a US military base. A missile and drone strike was also directed towards Kuwait. In parallel, the United States has issued sanctions against the newly formed Strait Control Authority, the PGSA. Yesterday evening, President Trump reiterated that passage must remain freely guaranteed to all, with veiled threats even to the state of Oman.

The Canadian government has announced the first long-term agreement to supply Canadian LNG to a European buyer. SEFE has signed a 20-year, non-binding contract to purchase 1 million tonnes annually from the Ksi Lisims LNG project on Canada's west coast, with deliveries scheduled to begin after 2030. The plant, which has a total capacity of around 12 mtpa, has not yet reached its final investment decision, but has already attracted major offtake agreements. SEFE should allocate such volumes mainly to Asian markets, indirectly helping to free up greater availability of liquefied gas for Europe in the long term
