GAS & POWER: Yesterday the Arctic Mulan LNG carrier arrived at the Chinese port of Beihai, transporting the first load of liquefied gas from the Arctic LNG 2 terminal outside the Russian borders. Both the LNG carrier and obviously the terminal are subject to American sanctions, and great attention is paid to the possible response of the White House to this operation. The Russian terminal has an installed liquefaction capacity of around 13 mtpa but, precisely because of Western sanctions, has seen markedly reduced use since the inauguration of the first liquefaction train in December 2023.
