GAS & POWER: Great confusion and uncertainty reigns over the situation in the Middle East less than forty-eight hours before the expiration of the ongoing truce between the United States and Iran. After Friday's day which seemed to have laid the foundations for reaching a lasting agreement, yet another rapid change of front by one of the two sides in the dispute led to a new risk of escalation, with the immediate closure of the Strait of Hormuz, several ships attacked by the Revolutionary Guards corps between Saturday and Sunday, and finally the seizure by the United States of an Iranian oil tanker. While the White House is still pushing for negotiations by sending a delegation to Pakistan, a firm no has come from Tehran, which has threatened retaliation following America's latest moves.

In Australia, workers at INPEX's Ichthys LNG plant voted against the company's proposed new contractual agreement, confirming expectations and concretely paving the way for strike action, which, if agreed, could now begin in early May.
