GAS & POWER: Tensions are rising further on the geopolitical front involving Russia and Ukraine: while the European Commission has officially presented the nineteenth package of sanctions aimed at halting imports of liquefied gas from Moscow from January 2027, over the weekend there were new violations of European airspace by Russian jets. In the measures presented by Ursula Von der Leyen, the list of sanctioned ships has been extended to more than 500, and the banking sector has once again been targeted. The package will now have to be approved unanimously by the 27, with the risk of opposition from Slovakia and Hungary.

Cheniere announced the start of liquefied gas production from the third production train of the expansion project currently under construction at the Corpus Christi terminal. The plan calls for the construction of seven new liquefaction units, three of which are already operational, with the fourth expected to come online by the end of the year. At full capacity, expected by the end of 2026, the plant's total capacity will exceed 25 mtpa.
