GAS & POWER: Prices remain buoyant at the start of the week, with operators looking with great skepticism at the possible agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Over the weekend, Tehran hinted that an agreement with Oman would now be reached, but according to several sources, Iranian demands are unlikely to be acceptable to the White House, laying the groundwork for a new escalation. Meanwhile, the Iranian military has continued to strike some of the few ships transiting the Strait of Messina over the past forty-eight hours. ADNOC has reported attacks on 15 ships in the past week. Tensions also remain high on the Red Sea front, with new raids claimed by Yemen's Houthis.

On Friday, August 7, Naftogaz announced that it had suffered further heavy attacks by the Russian military against oil and gas production infrastructure. Further raids were also recorded on Saturday and Sunday. The attacks follow intensifying tensions over the energy sector in recent months.
