GAS & POWER: The situation in the Gulf remains contradictory, following the intermittent pause in military operations that characterized the week just ended. US President Trump first threatened a new large-scale intervention, before backtracking in the last 24 hours citing new progress with Tehran. Progress that was, however, denied this morning by Iran, with gas prices recovering rapidly after sales observed during Asian trading hours. Although there has been increased passage of ships via Hormuz over the past week, traffic restrictions remain stringent, with a resumption of flows realistically only possible when hostilities stop.

Egypt's regasification capacity could slow in the coming weeks after a military drone struck both the FSRU Energos Winter unit and the FSU Gaslog Salem unit last Thursday. The attack, which does not yet appear to have been claimed, could lead to a slowdown in ship arrivals to the country, potentially increasing supply to Europe. Egypt, which has a total of five regasification units –one of which is shared with Jordan–, hit new highs in imported liquefied gas volumes last July, exceeding 2.4 billion cubic meters, a constant increase since the beginning of the year.
