GAS & POWER:New escalation risks in the Middle East support a new rise in crude and gas prices this morning. After Iran's new peace proposal over the weekend was deemed unsatisfactory by President Trump, the United States responded by launching military operation "Project Freedom," aimed at escorting merchant ships out of the Gulf. Tehran responded with alleged targeted attacks on some transports, while the United Arab Emirates reported the outbreak of a fire at the port of Fujairah caused by a new drone strike. The White House later announced that it had struck several Iranian fast ships, threatening more serious retaliation in the event of renewed armed opposition to escort operations.
During the latest quarterly update, ExxonMobil confirmed that Train 2 of the Golden Pass LNG terminal will reach completion by the end of the year, with Train 3 expected in the second quarter of 2027. The first commercial shipment left last April 22, about three weeks after the start of production on March 30. At full capacity, with all three trains operating, Golden Pass will reach a capacity of approximately 18 million tonnes per year, becoming the third largest export facility by nominal capacity in the country
