GAS & POWER: The situation in the Middle East remains the focal point for the markets. President Trump has given Tehran a few extra hours –until tonight– to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, threatening to unleash new and heavy attacks on vital infrastructure for the country. At the same time, the Iranian government has removed the possibility of an agreement between the parties, calling for an immediate end to the attacks.

The LNG vessel Sohar LNG crossed the Strait of Hormuz yesterday –the first since February 28– and is now off the coast of Muscat, Oman. The convoy is empty from the shiptracking data. In the last few hours, two more QatarEnergy-owned full-load LNG carriers, which had been docked in the gulf since February 28, were also expected to pass. It was hypothesized that they could be destined for China, however before the sharp reversal that was observed yesterday morning.
