Episode n.91 of 07/01/2026 – The Energy Call
In Episode 91 of The Energy Call, we discussed the MEF decree of December 29, 2025, which establishes the implementation procedures for the natural gas excise duty, of which Legislative Decree No. 504 of October 26, 1995, the consolidated text of excise duties, is the only one.
We discussed SNAM's publication of the document describing how market measures can be organized, activated, and implemented in the event of a solidarity request submitted by a requesting country pursuant to EU Regulation 1938-2017.
We then discussed the publication of ARERA regarding tariff updates for transport and dispatching and the extension of Resolution 109-2021 on the treatment of negative energy input throughout 2026, as well as the publication by the sole purchaser of the specifications defined for the transmission of aggregate measures and the calculation of ERPs.
Finally, we analyzed the gas markets that recorded their highest levels since early December, after some volatility observed during the Christmas holidays, supported by the descent of cold air across the continent, which is expected to last at least until the end of the first half of the month. The stability of supplies arriving from Norway and the constant arrival of ships at European ports, only partially held back by the bad weather of recent days, has reduced widespread price spikes, but still recorded in Italy.
