GAS & POWER: Japan's incumbent TEPCO is awaiting formal approval to restart two of the seven units of the planet's largest nuclear power plant, the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant. The plant's restoration would bring 2.7 GW of the total 8 GW of capacity back online, potentially saving around 1 billion meters of gas over the next year, according to some analysts. Before the Fukushima disaster, 54 power plants operated in Japan, compared to the 14 currently brought back into operation.

LNG Canada has announced that the planned flaring activity aimed at starting the second liquefaction train will be extended beyond the previous deadline of November 20. The first production of liquid gas is now expected on December 1st, in order to safely complete commissioning activities. Over the past week, several ships have slowed down their actual route at the terminal or changed their destination altogether.
