GAS & POWER: On the Pacific side, the Australian Ichthys LNG terminal is reportedly having difficulty meeting the maintenance schedule, which began in the second half of August. The plant, with a capacity of approximately 9 mtpa, has been operating at about half capacity since the beginning of October

EQUITY: European stock markets got off to a flying start this week, buoyed by strong performances on Asian markets. Investor enthusiasm was further boosted by the agreement in principle reached over the weekend between US and Chinese delegations: Beijing will postpone restrictions on rare earth exports for one year and commit to increasing purchases of American soybeans. The United States will thus extend the current trade truce, which was due to expire in early November. The official signing of the agreement is scheduled for Thursday, when Trump and Xi will meet formally in South Korea. On the sidelines, discussions on the conflict in Ukraine are expected.
