GAS & POWER: Following a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, Ursula von der Leyen announced yesterday that the European Commission intends to present a new package of sanctions against Moscow, targeting both the banking and energy sectors, as well as an accelerated plan to end dependence on Russian gas and oil.
ITALIA: Short system: consumption is softening due to the decline in gas-to-power demand thanks to the greater contribution from solar and wind sources, which are expected to peak tomorrow. On the supply side, supplies from North Africa have halved and are at their lowest since the beginning of the year: maintenance work in Algeria, expected to continue until the end of the week, and Tunisia, where work will only be completed at the end of the month, are having an impact.
