GAS & POWER: After American pressure following the latest developments in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, yesterday the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen opened up the possibility of a faster exit plan from Russian energy dependence than what was presented last June. Under the plan proposed by the Commission in early summer, new import contracts will be banned from 1° January 2026, while currently existing long-term contracts must cease by the end of 2027. The plan remains opposed by the countries most aligned with Moscow, such as the Hungarians and Slovakia.

EUAs: The moment of stalemate in area 77 €/tonn is confirmed, while as expected the investment funds recorded a new sharp increase in bets on increases in the week ended last Friday, with overall positions for over 50 mtonn equivalent, at the highest since last February.
