GAS & POWER: Tropical Storm Bertha is expected to impact the U.S. coast in the next 24 hours, heading toward the states of Louisiana and Texas. Several terminals could see operations severely impacted in the middle of the week, with the Plaquemines plant, located in Louisiana and with a capacity exceeding 35 billion cubic meters per year, under particular scrutiny. Over the past few months, the terminal has handled approximately one load per day. Subsequently, between Thursday and Friday the storm is expected to hit the terminals of Calcasieu Pass and Cameron LNG.

In the wake of pressure from the United States and Qatar, among others, the European Commission yesterday instructed member state governments not to impose sanctions on oil and gas companies that are expected to violate European methane emissions laws in the three-year period 2027-2029. The legislation would have required gas imported into the EU to meet methane emissions monitoring standards equivalent to those in Europe from January 2027, with penalties of up to 20% of annual turnover for violators. The emergence of a new energy crisis in recent months has undoubtedly forced Brussels to move in this direction
