GAS & POWER: Gas prices continue to rise, supported by yet another escalation over the weekend. The U.S. military conducted new raids to weaken Iran's ability to control transit in the Strait of Hormuz, to which Tehran responded with attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, the UAE, Qatar, and Oman, once again declaring naval transit in the area closed. You also backtrack on the negotiating front, despite pressure from Oman and Pakistan for a swift return to negotiations.

Sempra Infrastructure's Energía Costa Azul terminal —Mexico's first major LNG export facility, with a capacity of 3.3 million tons annually— has significantly accelerated commissioning activities in recent weeks, leading to the export of the first freighter. The LNG carrier PACIFIC SUCCESS set sail from the terminal on July 8th and is headed for Asia-Pacific. At full capacity the plant should be able to handle one cargo per week.
