Episode n.117 of 07/07/2026 – The Energy Call

In episode 117 of The Energy Call, we discussed, amongst other things, the following topics:
  • Publication by the GME of a notice regarding the extension of the transitional period for the application of the split payment system beyond 30 June 2026
  • Publication by Acquirente Unico of an update to the procedures for matching processes against the UDD commercial counterparty
  • Publication by ARERA of Resolution 223 on the sharing of consumption pods for energy supplies from multiple sellers or suppliers, with a view to encouraging the uptake of PPAs.
On the gas markets front, new highs were recorded this morning following the signing of the memorandum between the United States and Iran, after a further attack was reported overnight on two merchant ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. On the fundamentals front, the Mediterranean region of the continent is experiencing a return of the late-June heatwave and, consequently, demand for gas-to-power generation remains strong across the short-term horizon. Supply, however, is hampered by European regasification volumes hitting new lows for the year. Indeed, Asian markets remain at a premium, and it is difficult to envisage a change in this trend in the short term, whilst supplies from Norway have remained largely constant.
