17/06/2026 – REPowerEU: Stopping pipelined Russian gas imports for short-term contracts begins today – Read more news

GAS & POWER: An agreement was reached overnight between the Offshore Alliance and INPEX, ending ongoing strikes at the Ichthys LNG liquefaction plant in Australia. The supply constraints feared in an already heavily pressured Asia-Pacific market have therefore been averted. The plant is expected to restart at full capacity in the next few hours, after one of the two liquefaction trains was stopped.

The ban on the import of Russian gas via pipe into Europe for all short-term contracts signed before June 17, 2025, kicks off today, completing the framework initiated on April 25 with the similar measure on LNG. There are, of course, some exemptions. Long-term contracts, on the other hand, will have a longer transition, the termination of which will develop over the next year.
