GAS & POWER: Workers at the Australian Ichthys LNG plant, operated by the Japanese company INPEX, have approved strike action following a unanimous vote last Friday. However, the trade union and the employer have agreed to hold further rounds of talks to reach an agreement on the new contract before the protests begin, which are scheduled for the second half of May.

OIL: Crude oil prices are continuing the upward trend that began last week in the wake of the latest diplomatic deadlock between Washington and Tehran. The latest U-turn came from the United States, with a last-minute withdrawal from potential new talks organised in Pakistan. Meanwhile, according to some sources, Tehran is reportedly open to discussing the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, with the nuclear and disarmament issues to be addressed only subsequently.
