GAS & POWER: Speculation about the actual duration of the new truce announced Tuesday, and the concrete lack of progress in diplomatic relations between the United States and Iran, are leading commodity prices to mark their fourth consecutive session of increases this morning. Crude oil hit $106/bbl again overnight, while front-month TTF on ICE traded above the 45 €/MWh mark. Navigation in the Strait of Hormuz remains limited to the bare minimum: yesterday, Tehran's Revolutionary Guards attacked two convoys, while the US Navy blocked the passage of three oil tankers bound for Iranian ports.

The European Commission yesterday presented the AccelerateEU plan as the first form of coordinated response to the ongoing energy crisis, considered the most serious in decades and compared to the combined effect of those observed in 2022 and 1973, according to Energy Minister Jorgensen. Among the measures contained in the plan are aid for vulnerable families, the promotion of teleworking, encouragement to use public transport and the establishment of a single monitoring observatory for the state of fuel reserves, and finally a new transition plan towards greater electrification supported by renewables. The subject of energy will be taken up by the 27 at the informal summit to take place in Cyprus between today and tomorrow.
