GAS & POWER: The failure of negotiations that took place over the weekend in Pakistan highlighted the strong distance between the parties on key points of contention: the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear program. In the hours that followed, US President Trump announced the launch of a naval blockade starting at 4:00 PM this afternoon to prevent the payment of tolls demanded by Tehran for crossing the Strait, where navigation remains effectively reduced to a minimum. Markets have once again feared further escalations, with the ceasefire still in place for just over a week potentially put at serious risk, as well as a more than prolonged destruction of supply.

OIL: Saudi Aramco's planned sales to China are expected to halve over the next May to 20 million, compared to 40 million the previous month, Bloomberg reported, due to the sharp price increases brought about by the crisis in the Middle East.
