Episode n.94 of 27/01/2026 – The Energy Call
In Episode 94 of The Energy Call, we discussed the following topics, among others: publication by MASE of the decree ordering the cancellation of companies provisionally registered on the list of gas sellers that have not submitted the appropriate substitute declaration by 20 February; announcement by the ETS2 committee on the availability of the SR application for a minor update of the registry for regulated entities without submission of the monitoring plan; sharing of updates on Terna's active commercial relationships with the respective BRP dispatchers and further considerations on the monitoring of dispatch guarantees. On the gas markets, the highest levels in the last ten months were reached in early trading at the beginning of the week, before subsequently correcting, with spot prices in some cases reaching close to 50 euro per megawatt hour. The Arctic storm, nicknamed Fern, brought prices at the American hub to levels sufficient to reduce the amount of gas destined for liquefaction terminals, to be sold instead on the domestic market. This factor obviously supports European markets, the main destination for American LNG over the last year, where, under the grip of persistent cold weather, especially in the central and northern regions, storage levels have fallen below 45% of capacity.
