Episode n.92 of 13/01/2026 – The Energy Call
In Episode 92 of The Energy Call, we confirmed the publication in the official gazette general series 3 of January 5, 2026, of the decree of December 29, 2025 of the Ministry of Economy and Finance on how to apply the excise duty on natural gas.
We recalled SNAM's publication of the timing of the processing of the gas transport balance sheet for the month of November following the communication from the SI operator on 19 December.
We then discussed the GME's provision of the test platform for Tide adjustments, resulting in the announcement of new virtual unit names and new rules for calculating margins.
Finally, we analyzed the gas markets that reached their highs since early November at the beginning of the week, recording the first real price spike of the year with growth above 15 percent in the last three market sessions driven by the reversal of the climate outlook over the final part of January with the expected arrival of a new mass of cold air that will bring temperatures well below average throughout Central and Northern Europe in an ontext of average filling of European gas storage that has already fallen well below the 55 percent threshold.
