GAS & POWER: The LNG carrier IMSAIKAH, which departed the Qatari port of Ras Laffan in late October, arrived near the Golden Pass liquefaction terminal in the United States. Landfill operations aimed at cooling the plant, a typical operation during the testing phase, are scheduled for the next few days. The first production from the American terminal, which at full capacity will feature a technical capacity of 18 mtpa, is expected between the end of the year and the beginning of next.

The European Council, the European Parliament and the Commission have reached an agreement to stop imports of Russian gas. LNG imports will be banned by the end of 2026, while a halt to pipe supplies will arrive by autumn 2027. Include safeguard structures in the agreement, which provide for their suspension in the event of failure to meet storage targets or in energy crisis situations for one or more Union countries. Formal approval by Parliament is expected at the plenary session scheduled between 15 and 18 December.
