GAS & POWER: The European Commission is reportedly considering forming a new European demand aggregation tool to facilitate the purchase of liquefied natural gas from US companies. This new project would obviously be functional in reaching the target of $250 billion a year in American energy goods, included in the recent mutual tariff agreement. According to one of the members of the Commission, a structure similar to AggregateEU, the mechanism that allows the aggregation of demand and the joint purchase of gas at European level activated following the 2022 energy crisis, could already be activated by the end of summer

EQUITY: The new episode of the tariff saga cools things down on the financial markets. A few hours before the August 1° deadline, the American administration announced a new 6-day extension for the various nations that have not yet reached an agreement, however threatening even more punitive tariffs if an agreement is not reached. Meanwhile, after India and Brazil, Switzerland has also joined the list “of bad guys”, with duties imposed of 39%, a level higher than the 31% announced on Liberation Day. Negotiations with the Canadian government were also derailed, with tariffs already in force today of 35%, while the deadline with Mexico was extended by 90 days
