08/09/2026 – Gas Europe: Asian competition is growing ahead of the upcoming winter season, with prices hitting their highest levels since December 2022 – Read more news

GAS & POWER: Gas prices hit their highest since December 2022 this morning, with front-month TTF trading above the 78 €/MWh mark at the opening. Yesterday, competition flared up again with Asia, where new demand emerged from both the southern and northern regions, with South Korea under greater pressure to stockpile supplies ahead of the winter, with less nuclear capacity available in the country than initially expected. Clashes between the United States and Iran then continued, while new attacks by the Houthis against Saudi Arabian targets were recorded. Oil prices return above the $100/bbl mark.

In France, energy unions have announced strikes starting next week, with the first demonstrations scheduled for Tuesday, September 15. Notifications along these lines also came directly from EDF and Elengy, the operator operating the country's main regasification terminals. It is still difficult to estimate the impact on the operation of the nuclear terminal and fleet, factors which could, however, sharpen the current bullish tensions on gas and power prices in the Continent.
