GAS & POWER: Japan's TEPCO has had to suspend operations at Unit 6 of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant, just twenty-four hours after restarting the plant, which had been shut down since 2011 following the Fukushima disaster. The Kariwa power plant is the largest in the world, but only units 6 and 7 are currently scheduled to return to operation in the coming years.

Spot prices at Henry Hub have surpassed the 50 €/MWh mark in recent hours, signaling an incentive to suspend liquefaction operations at terminals and resell gas on the grid. The intense cold weather that supports demand and prices is expected to last until Monday, with a slowdown in cargo delivery therefore limited, obviously unless there are more significant structural impacts.
